We carry out improvement works to keep council homes in good condition. Before any work starts, we'll visit your home to assess what's needed and contact you to explain what we'll be doing and when.

Your Home, Your Place investment programme

We're investing £390 million to improve council homes across Kirklees over the next 5 years. This programme will make sure all properties meet the Decent Homes Standard by 2031.

The work programme for April 2026 onwards is being developed. If your home is identified for improvements, we'll write to you. We'll publish more information on this website as it becomes available.

Examples of the work we may carry out:

  • Kitchen and bathroom replacements
  • Roofing
  • Central heating and gas safety work
  • Electrical works
  • Windows and doors
  • Structural works
  • Environmental improvements to communal areas, paths and open spaces
  • Health and safety work to meet changes in regulations
  • Damp, mould and condensation work

Home assessment visits

Over the next three years, we're working with Watts Group Ltd to carry out home assessment visits across all our properties. These visits help us plan future improvements your home may need.

By taking part, you help us identify upgrades that could make your home safer, warmer, and more affordable to maintain, such as kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems, or windows.

The visit is quick and non-intrusive. We just need access to each room so we can understand your home's future needs. No work will be carried out during the visit.

This is not an inspection of how you keep your home. There's no need to prepare or make any changes before we visit.

Resident engagement

We will involve you throughout any improvement work on your home. This includes consulting you on choices like kitchen designs and colours.
