Retirement Living Schemes for over 60s
Our Retirement Living Schemes offer self-contained and studio flats for people aged 60 and over. You have the key to your own front door and the freedom to come and go as you please.
Each scheme has shared facilities, including a communal lounge, kitchen, and usually laundry facilities.
You'll have your own independent home, with communal spaces where you can enjoy social activities and meet other residents.
The benefits of living in a Retirement Living Scheme
- Safety and security - Most schemes have a secure communal entrance door. You then have access to your own flat.
- Lift access - To upper floors in most schemes.
- Guest rooms - Most schemes offer guest rooms for visiting friends and family at a low cost.
- Independence - Your own flat with access to shared facilities and support services.
- Wi-Fi - Available in communal areas
- Health and wellbeing - Opportunities to take part in physical activities and social events.
- Support - Independent Living Officers are available in person or by phone, 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday (hours may vary by scheme).

Retirement Living Schemes
We have Retirement Living Schemes across North and South Kirklees.
If you feel a Retirement Living Scheme is for you, you will need to complete an online Choose and Move application. Register your household - Choose 'n' Move .
Extra care housing
We also offer Extra Care Housing - specialist housing for people who want to live independently but may need care and support available on site.
Extra Care is designed for people aged 50 and over (younger people with eligible support needs may also apply). Each scheme offers self-contained apartments with 24-hour on-site care.
Ash View, Huddersfield
Ash View is a new Extra Care scheme at 10 Weavers Drive, Huddersfield HD2 1JG, with 50 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Care is provided by Community Integrated Care.
Costs (2025-26):
- One-bedroom: £232.61 per week
- Two-bedroom: £248.10 per week
- Wellbeing charge: £99.61 per week
- Utilities (personal usage): approximately £15.69 per week
Additional care costs are assessed individually. Financial support may be available - this is assessed by Adult Social Care.
