Street Voice Champions are volunteers who help improve their area by giving regular feedback about local services to Homes and Neighbourhoods.

Who can become a Street Voice Champion

Any tenant or leaseholder can be a Street Voice Champion. All champions follow a code of conduct to make sure everyone is treated respectfully.

What they do

Champions volunteer as a link between their community and Homes and Neighbourhoods. For example:

  • Pointing tenants and leaseholders to the right council services.
  • Giving feedback on environmental improvement projects, upcoming schemes, and estate inspections.
  • Telling us what matters to you and your neighbours.

The Tenant Voice Team stays in regular contact with champions, sharing updates on what's happening in your area. You're also invited to Neighbourhood forums across North and South Kirklees.

What they don't do

Street Voice Champions don't need to:

  • Get involved with disputes or complaints.
  • Use the role to raise personal issues - these should still go through the normal channels.

Benefits of becoming a Street Voice Champion

Getting involved in your local community is rewarding and can boost your confidence. Working with us can also help you gain new skills and experience.
