If you're a tenant or household member, you can access free support from our employment, skills and training service. We'll discuss your situation and goals and help you find work, training or education.

How we can help

We will:

  • Support around your health and wellbeing and build your confidence to move into work when you're ready.
  • Help you find work placements, training courses and volunteering opportunities.
  • Connect you with wider council employment and skills programmes if you want to learn new skills or train for a different career.
  • Provide one-to-one mentoring and career advice support during your job search.
  • Help you create or update your CV.
  • Support you with application forms and interview preparation.
  • Explore apprenticeship opportunities - train and study at the same.
  • Access our Pre apprenticeship programme - A free programme for 16-18-year-olds interested in a career in construction or a trade. You'll learn hands-on skills, get real work experience, and receive support to move into an apprenticeship. You will also gain a Level 2 Multi-Skills qualification (joinery, plastering, plumbing, electrical, painting and decorating, tiling, brickwork) Register your interest here: Homes & Neighbourhoods Pre-Apprenticeship Programme 2026/27 Kirklees Council.
  • Help you access digital skills training or devices if you need them

Who can use this service

To get employment and training support, you must be:

  • Aged 16-65
  • A British citizen or have the right to work in the UK
