What we're working on

Reducing waste and fly-tipping

  • Joint visits with the recycling team where bins are being contaminated.
  • Improve recycling and tackle fly-tipping.
  • Monitoring new bin store areas at Carr Street - From March 2026.

Improving gardens and communal spaces

We're working with residents to keep gardens tidy and reduce fly-tipping in communal spaces.

  • Identify problem areas through estate inspections and resident feedback - June 2026.
  • Supporting residents to maintain their own gardens and monitoring improvements.

Tackling anti-social behaviour on our estates

We're working with partners to reduce anti-social behaviour and improve safety in the area.

  • Joint visits to hotspot areas to encourage reporting - 2026/27.
  • Information leaflets on how to report ASB.

Help with Universal Credit (UC)

We're helping residents update their UC claims for new service charges, so you don't fall into arrears.

  • Home visits to help you update your UC portal - one day per week - From March 2026.

Income and fuel poverty support - Kings Court

Sessions for residents at Kings Court focusing on:

  • Pension Credit - one of the most underclaimed benefits.
  • Help with fuel poverty, including fuel vouchers.
  • Referrals to Money Advice services.

What we've done

Recycling advice — all properties

  • Resident engagement around recycling and hand delivered leaflets on correct waste disposal - December 2025.

Winter works - Howden Clough

  • The Estate Caretaking team cleared drying areas, shared spaces and footpaths, pruned overgrown shrubbery and removed self-seeded trees - December 2025.

Trees and shrubbery - Carr Street

  • Overgrown trees and shrubbery were cut back, in consultation with the Carr Street Tenant and Resident Association - September 2025.

Footpath resurfacing - Carr Street

Residents and elected members raised concerns about the condition of footpaths, particularly in bad weather.

  • After consulting with residents, communal pathways were resurfaced with non-slip materials - September 2025.

Estate inspections

Your Housing Officers carry out estate inspections at least every three months to check for repairs, fly-tipping, broken lights and grounds maintenance issues.
