Taxi licences
HM Revenue and Customs - Tax Requirements Commencing April 2022
From 4 April 2022, the rules are changing if you're applying for a licence for a:
- hackney carriage / private hire driver
- private hire vehicle operator
If you're an individual, company or any type of partnership you must complete a tax check if you're:
- renewing a licence
- applying for the same type of licence you previously held,that ceased to be valid less than a year ago
- applying for the same type of licence you already hold with another licensing authority

You don't need to complete a tax check and should follow the guidance to confirm your tax responsibilities if you have:
- never held a licence of the same type before
- had a licence of the same type that ceased to be valid a year or more before making this application

Notice
The Licensing Department have received notification by trade representatives, that there has been a vote for a fare increase to all tariffs and an adjustment in time when the tariffs start and finish.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

You will receive confirmation that your application/email has been received and if applicable, we will call you back to arrange for payment to be taken over the phone as we cannot accept cheques as present.
Temporary Off Sales Permission
The Business and Planning Act 2020 has temporarily modified the Licensing Act 2003 to provide an automatic extension to the terms of most premises licences which currently only permit the sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises to allow the sale of alcohol for consumption off the premises. The provisions are temporary until 30 September 2021.
