Vision and foreword
from Chair of The Communities Partnership BoardCouncillor Amanda Pinnock
As Chair of the Communities Partnership Board, I am pleased to reaffirm the board's ongoing support for the Inclusive Communities Framework. This framework is more than just a document; it embodies our partnership's collective commitment to fostering inclusivity and equity within Kirklees. It outlines the core principles that guide our efforts to build communities where everyone feels secure, connected, and valued.
Our progress as a partnership has been notable in recent years, but our journey towards inclusion is far from over. Inequality and disadvantage remain considerable barriers to creating truly inclusive communities. Recent events, such as racist riots in other parts of the country might not have happened in Kirklees, but they affected people here, including their sense of belonging and connection. These issues compound and prevent people from feeling connected both in their communities and across different communities. Ultimately, this holds communities back from accessing opportunities and achieving their full potential. The Inclusive Communities Framework provides us with the principles to collaboratively dismantle these barriers. By listening to communities and removing these barriers, we can create lasting, positive change.
For these reasons, the importance of the Inclusive Communities Framework cannot be overstated. The principles within it are the essential elements for creating a society where every individual feels a sense of belonging and has equal opportunities to thrive. The self-evaluation tools within the framework empower us to respond dynamically to the evolving needs of our communities. By continually listening and through our sustained, collective effort, we will realise our vision of a Kirklees where communities are empowered, trusted, and united.
