  • Inclusive Communities Framework

The three guiding principles

Our three guiding principles are the pillars that underpin our approaches to building an inclusive community, and these are:

1.

Belief: Belief that communities hold solutions, with skills and knowledge that is valuable and will help us achieve our shared goals.

2.

Belonging: Build belonging and trust with, and between our diverse communities on shared interests and challenges, celebrating what is good in local places.

3.

Care: Care about what matters to local communities and own our shared actions that give us a collective purpose to make a change.

Pillars of inclusive working, which are belief, belonging and care

How the pillars were formed

These pillars were distilled from the work by partners involved in Design Circle 1 as part of creating the framework, as foundational touchstones to developing inclusive communities in Kirklees. Partners felt that these pillars were readily transferable to what organisations already have in place, that they were aspirational and that they would focus our collective intention. They underpin our five inclusive approaches which form part of the toolkit.
