Public spaces everyone can enjoy
We want to celebrate Batley's rich heritage and bring more nature into the town centre, creating public spaces everyone can enjoy.
We have many opportunities for new trees, seats, lighting and more in the design. Our designs show possible locations of some of these, but the exact locations will be determined at the next stage of design - responding to the feedback and surveys we carry out.
We're introducing more flexible, multifunctional spaces for cultural events and markets.
We're introducing more green spaces, planting trees, and allowing Batley's greenery to become more exciting and biodiverse.
We want to create new public gardens, providing welcoming spaces for people of all ages to relax, play and socialise.
We're making our streets more pedestrian friendly. We want to resurface and widen pavements, introduce better seating, lighting and street furniture around the town centre.
