Kirklees Blueprints

Here in Kirklees, we're taking a 'blueprint' approach to the development of our towns and villages.

This means we look at each of these towns as a whole, and we create a masterplan for investment right across the town centre. By addressing the challenges faced by our towns holistically, rather than through any one single project, we know we can have a far greater overall impact and create areas which can grow and thrive for not just years but generations to come. It's all about the big picture.


Right across Kirklees, we're aiming to make our town centres safer and more family-friendly, greener and more accessible to everyone. We want to make them more vibrant and varied, giving people more reasons to visit and more to enjoy from day through to night.

While we modernise our town centres, we also want to future-proof Kirklees' amazing history and heritage. We're working to breathe new life into historic buildings, revamp traditional markets, preserve much-loved architecture and celebrate the old with the new.

All these plans have been developed with a lot of input from people who live in, work in or visit our towns regularly, and as a result each blueprint is completely unique.
