A great place to socialise
We want Batley town centre to be a great place to spend time and socialise - whether that's the chance to enjoy a spontaneous day out after bumping into a friend, or bringing the whole town together for a cultural celebration.
We want to create new and wider pavements for local cafés, restaurants and bars to use, allowing patrons to spill outside on sunny days and enjoy the town centre.
We're introducing new and better planting, seating, street furniture and lighting right across the town centre, making it a much nicer place to relax and spend time.
We also want to create spaces that will work better for community-led events throughout the year, bringing more people into Batley with more to do and more to enjoy.
We want to make Batley much easier and more pleasant to navigate on foot, with better, safer pedestrian links between the local high streets, Batley Plaza and the Tesco.
This will also make it easier and safer for everyone to meet up with friends and family, enjoy local businesses and events.
