New Mills

The vision for New Mills is to create a mixed-use destination that brings new jobs while offering plenty of space for shops, creative businesses, homes, and leisure activities.

Key heritage features, such as the eastern mill and tower, will be retained and weatherproofed for future use, ensuring the site's character remains at the heart of the development.

The aims for the site include creating modern workshops, offices, and spaces, a café/restaurant, new homes designed to complement the local area and the creation of landscaped areas, improved pedestrian routes, and environmental enhancements, including opening up the River Colne.

Following consultation feedback, plans have been refined with more design and viability work being carried out.

The development will be delivered in phases, starting with employment and retail opportunities, followed by housing and other elements as market conditions allow.
