Dewsbury Learning Quarter
Key to our blueprint vision is offering young people access to high quality education in a purpose-built campus, and supporting them to achieve their full potential. Dewsbury Learning Quarter is home to two fantastic Kirklees College centres, offering a range of courses to Kirklees' next generation of talent.
Pioneer Higher Skills Centre opened in 2021, an outpost of Kirklees College which is dedicated to higher skills and higher education.
The new centre provides state-of-the-art facilities for courses in subjects ranging from Art & Design to Computing, as well as courses like Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.
The opening of the new skills centre was the result of a £14 million restoration and refurbishment to a Grade II Listed building in the heart of Dewsbury, giving one of our beautiful Victorian structures a new lease of life and providing a great new learning environment for local students.
Another of Kirklees College's newer facilities, Springfield Sixth Form Centre opened in 2018. It offers a wide range of courses for young people aged 16 to 18, including vocational learning for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The centre offers a fully equipped art and design studio plus a motor vehicle workshop. A learning resource centre dedicated to the late MP Jo Cox is stocked with the latest IT and digital media equipment, along with a host of other resources to support learning.
