Over the next decade and beyond, we're working to transform Daisy Hill and create a new neighbourhood - made up of new homes which are both great quality and affordable to rent or buy, as well as new shops, cafés and restaurants.

The plans

High quality homes

Our aim for Daisy Hill is a neighbourhood made up of new homes which are both great quality and affordable to rent or buy.

With this development, we'll be addressing the great need for affordable housing, whilst also setting a new benchmark for residential developments in Dewsbury.

A complete neighbourhood

Alongside these new homes, there will also be a lot of new retail and commercial space. This will complement the other blueprint projects in the town centre, like development of the market and arcade.

Station Apartments

Work is currently underway on the flagship development in Daisy Hill - Fieldhouse, a Grade II Listed four-storey building which stands directly opposite Dewsbury Train Station. Once completed, this building will be known as Station Apartments.

This development will give the building a new lease of life, transforming it into 23 spacious apartments with additional retail space alongside.

These apartments will be both excellent quality and affordable to rent or buy, and their prime location will mean they're perfect to capitalise on Dewsbury's excellent transport links.

Funding

A lot of the funding for the work so far has come from the Dewsbury Grant Revival Scheme, which is about improving the appearance and function of our beautiful heritage buildings in the town centre. The funding includes £1.25 million of council funding, and £3.15 million from the government's Towns Fund . This is a six-year programme which will finish in 2026.

The work on Dewsbury's Heritage Action Zone has also contributed to work already undertaken on Daisy Hill. We've been working in partnership with Historic England to deliver the Heritage Action Zone in the town centre, which has been about using Dewsbury's history as a catalyst to boost the local economy. This funding came to an end in 2023.
