  • Eastthorpe Hall is a multi award-winning spa in a beautiful 17th century house.

Art and music

The architecture and landscape has inspired generations of artists. The Victorian Batley Art Gallery incorporates the clock from the old Market Hall; and the West Yorkshire Print Workshop is housed in a former Victorian Church School. Both showcase changing exhibitions of art old and new.

Outdoors

The Dewsbury Heritage Trail explores connections to the Yorkshire Ripper, Mr Men's Roger Hargreaves, and textile history. The Spen Valley Greenway is 7 miles of traffic-free, flat pedalling along a disused railway line.

If you want to see the largest new woodland in the north then Dewsbury Country Park features 1000 metres of footpath, including an accessible route for wheelchairs and prams.

  • Located on the Calder and Hebble Navigation Canal the Savile Town Wharf has side cafés and a walking route to Shepley Bridge Marina in Mirfield.

Steeped in the rich history of the Brontës, Luddites and Chartists the Spen Valley's woollen industry heritage is evident in the towns of Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike and Gomersal.

  • Explore Batley and beyond at Bagshaw Museum. Join us for a trip around the world and experience 'The Kingdom of Osiris', our atmospheric Egyptian tomb, visit the 'Spirit of South Asia', make music in our African Gallery, or recreate a Victorian seaside day out.
  • Blow off some steam at the children's play areas at Crow Nest or Wilton Park.
  • Meet the animals at Ponderosa Zoo
  • Displaying classic buses the Dewsbury Bus Museum opens its doors for 3 event days each year.
