Peel Street
Peel Street is Marsden's busy local high street. It is the beating heart of local community life.
The area offers a great village experience. To enhance this further, plans could include widening pavements, calming traffic, and creating more space for walking and cycling. These changes would make the street safer and more enjoyable for everyone. Improving the link from Peel Street to St Bartholomew's Church via Market Place and Town Gate would make the church and its historic setting more accessible.
Enhancing public space and parking at Town Gate will also support local businesses.
The central section of Peel Street could be transformed into a shared surface, giving pedestrians priority and reducing poor parking behaviour. This would create a more attractive and people-friendly environment.
Derby Terrace could become an important route connecting Peel Street to new parking near New Mills. The aim will be to upgrade this area with better lighting and public realm improvements. Argyle Street, which has already seen enhancements, could also be pedestrianised to create more space for people.
