New public space
We're demolishing the old, disused market hall to make way for a brand new outdoor space, which will serve several different functions for the town centre. The flexibility of this space could bring lots of new opportunities for the town centre in years to come.
The new space can be used for a wide variety of different events, including markets, with features like water and electricity points to support event runners and stallholders.
Each event will give people more reasons to spend time in the town centre and a wider variety of things to enjoy, supporting local businesses by bringing in extra footfall, and making Holmfirth a better place to live and work.
When not in use as an events space, this area will create better town centre parking - including new cycle parking and electric vehicle (EV) charging points. We're also moving the disabled parking spaces in this area to a much better spot at the level end of the car park, where they'll be much more accessible.
