Personal assistants

Working as a personal assistant

A Personal Assistant (PA) role is often mistaken for a traditional care worker role, but the two are quite different. While care workers are usually employed by private or independent sector organisations or the Local Authority, PAs are typically employed directly by the person they support-or sometimes by a family member or relative. Some PAs are also self-employed, providing care independently to individuals, and in these cases, they're classed as a micro-enterprise. As a PA, you're accountable to the person who employs you, offering tailored, often one-to-one support based on their unique needs.
