Kingsgate and King Street
A new cinema and leisure complex is set to be introduced to the Kingsgate Shopping Centre to build on the retail offer and attract more visitors
Planning applications have been accepted and private developer W.D limited are currently putting together a programme of work and aim to begin works early 2023.
The story so far
Kingsgate provides the more traditional retail experience within Huddersfield Town Centre, and we want to protect and support this. The introduction of leisure opportunities here will also increase visitors into the town and support activity at the Cultural Heart.
We aim to enhance the streets surrounding Kingsgate Shopping Centre with a focus on pedestrians and cyclists. We will also improve the public realm area so it's of high-quality and uncluttered.
