Registered charities and community amateur sports clubs (CASCs) are entitled to 80% rate relief on any property occupied for charitable purposes. Other organisations that are not registered with the charities commission may still qualify for rate relief.

To be considered for a grant, those benefiting must be living in one of the 11 wards of the former County Borough of Huddersfield and are considered to be in need of assistance. Huddersfield Education Trust provides grants to groups, or for schemes providing educational facilities for those eligible. Grants are not given directly to individuals.
