Permanent traffic lights within Kirklees are continuously monitored and maintaned by our Urban Traffic Control (UTC) Team. Many permanent traffic lights are monitored remotely, which helps us identify and respond to faults quickly.

Temporary traffic lights are used during roadworks, or utility repairs to help maintain traffic flow and keep workers safe. Sometimes, temporary traffic lights may be operated by a contractor. This should be clearly advertised on site where the temporary traffic lights are placed.

Faulty traffic lights

Sometimes, traffic lights may stop working due to a fault, damage, vandalism or power supply issues.

Sometimes, a fault may be caused by an issue with the electricity supply. Where this happens, repairs are carried out by the electricity network provider and repair times may be outside our direct control.
