Simultaneously, Kirklees has seen the information and communication sector grow by 167% in the 10 years to 2023. While development of Our Cultural Heart in Huddersfield will promote creative industries in Kirklees and draw on our heritage to attract people to spend time in the area, application of digital skills and technology are core to innovation in our wider economy.
We are committed to creating new cultural infrastructure - such as venues, galleries, studios, and festivals - that will animate public spaces, increase footfall, and support the night-time economy. We also recognise the role culture can play in tackling inequality by engaging communities, improving wellbeing, and creating pathways into employment.
