- Born and Bred In (BaBi) Calderdale/Huddersfield and Wakefield are local versions of the wider BaBi research programme. They recruit families during pregnancy or early childhood and link routine health, education, environmental, and service-user data. The insights generated are used to improve maternity care, early years services, and population health outcomes. The BaBi expansion into Calderdale/Huddersfield and Wakefield directly affects Kirklees because many local families use maternity and early-years services delivered by Mid Yorkshire Hospitals and CHFT. This means some Kirklees parents and babies are already part of neighbouring "Born and Bred in" cohorts, even without a formal Kirklees BaBi site. Insights from these cohorts, linking routine health, education, environmental and service-use data, are expected to inform the Healthy Child Programme and wider public health planning in Kirklees.
