The Kirklees Safeguarding Adults Board (KSAB) hosted by Kirklees Council is a multi-agency partnership. The KSAB works within the framework of the law and statutory guidance to strategically assure itself that local safeguarding arrangements and partners act to help and protect adults at risk in Kirklees in line with the criteria set out in section 42.1 of the Care Act 2014, that is:

  • has needs for care and support (whether or not the authority is meeting any of those needs);
  • is experiencing, or is at risk of, abuse or neglect, and;
  • as a result of those needs is unable to protect himself or herself against the abuse or neglect or the risk of it

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

A core function of the board is to have a close eye on performance and support partner activity. During this period of unprecedented uncertainty, the board recognises there needs to be constructive consideration of adjustments to care and support for vulnerable adults. The board will continue to perform its duties. Whilst it is likely that some of the team are tasked to support front door services, this will be alongside dealing with Safeguarding Unit and board priorities.

Please make use of all the information available on this site and if you require any further support at this challenging time please contact us.

Board minutes

The Board meets four times in a year and the meeting minutes are available below.

Safeguarding adults reviews (SAR) reports and improvement plans

A Safeguarding Adults Review is carried out when an adult at risk dies or has experienced serious neglect or abuse, and there is concern that agencies could have worked more effectively to protect the adult.

A Safeguarding Adults Review is a multi-agency learning process. It aims to:

  • identify and promote good practice
  • encourage effective learning
  • make recommendations for future practice so that deaths or serious harm can be prevented from happening again

The briefing is being shared anonymously as there are a number of sensitive issues which has led to the Board in question doing all that they can to protect the identities of those involved whilst still sharing the learning.
