1 App is the national planning application form. Any applications submitted after 6 April must use the relevant 1 App form. To help ensure that all the necessary information is submitted with your application, each 1 App form has a validation checklist, and this should be completed and submitted with the application.

The planning office is open for viewing planning applications and submission of applications, Monday to Friday 10.00am to 4.00pm.

Do you need planning permission?
Due to changes in the 'permitted development' regulations from 1 October the online self assessment facility has had to be removed until new decision scripts have been issued. In the meantime householders can view the Planning Portal 'interactive house' for help in deciding whether something will need planning permission.

Planning sub-committees

Unitary Development Plan (UDP)
The Kirklees Unitary Development Plan sets out the council's policies and proposals for the use and development of land and buildings. The written statement and proposals maps are available to download.

Local Development Framework (LDF)
This new-style plan will progressively replace the Unitary Development Plan. This section contains details of the Local Development Scheme, consultations and information about the Urban Capacity Study.

Enforcement Register - appeals (Opens in a new window)
Search the Planning Portals web site for enforcement appeals that are in progress. You can view current enforcement appeals that have been lodged and decided including a summary of the case and relevant documentation. There is also a facility to make an appeal on-line and to make comments on cases that are in progress.

Where you are carrying out alterations or extensions, erecting a new building or certain other types development work, you will also require Building Regulation approval. You can submit your application for this approval to Kirklees Council online through the Submit a Plan website. If you register with the site you will be able to use it to track the progress of the application.
