A healthy future for the Spen Valley

After more than three years of planning and development, we have now opened a new £18.6 million leisure centre in the Spen Valley.

Kirklees Council has been working with our partner, Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL), to deliver a modern, state-of-the-art leisure centre shaped by the thoughts and views of local residents. Spen Valley Leisure Centre will support healthier lifestyles for our residents, leading to improved health and wellbeing.

The new leisure complex replaces the old Spenborough Pool, which had previously been extended to provide a fitness suite and fitness studio in order to meet residents' evolving fitness needs. Spen Valley Leisure Centre will include two swimming pools, a large fitness suite, two fitness studios and a cycle studio, providing a wide range of exercise options and classes.
