Opening times

Library and Information Centre opening:
Monday 10am to 1pm;
Tuesday 1pm to 5pm;
Wednesday 10am to 1pm;
Thursday 1pm to 7pm;
Friday closed;
Saturday 10am to 4pm;
Sunday 1pm to 4pm.

Venue access

All key services are accessible.
Wheelchair access
Either, there are specially marked parking spaces for disabled people, or disabled people can park within 50 metres of an accessible entrance.
Disabled parking
There is a toilet which can be accessed by people with disabilities including wheelchair users. This means that it complies with the standards set out in Part M of the Building Regulations,'Access to and use of buildings.

  • The former Ravensthorpe Library has been fully refurbished, and renamed the Greenwood Centre: a Library, Information and Children's Centre.
As well as the traditional library service, including a self issue machine and free use of public access computers and internet, our friendly staff also provide advice and guidance on a variety of other Council services.

Regular Activities:


Greenwood Craft Group 10.30am to 12.30pm come along to our friendly group who meet to share their skills and try new crafts together. New members welcome.

MP Simon Reevell Public Surgery 9.30-11.30 am om Mondays 7th April, 7th July, 1st Sept. 3rd November 2014
A surgery is a one-to-one meeting where a constituent may raise issues of local concern and seek the intervention of their MP. The issues may relate to local issues (street crime, litter, a request for intervention by the MP on behalf of the constituent with local or national government) or it could deal with national policy matters


Step by Step - 11.30am to 1pm a free weekly drop in session offering advice on training, volunteering, and helping you into work.

Careers Service Advisor is available at the centre on Tuesday afternoons by appointment. In -depth careers advice including skills, job choices and training. To book phone 01484 226809 and ask for an appointment at the Greenwood centre.


Basic IT help sessions from the library 10-1pm. Please book.


Neighbourhood Policing Team Contact Point 2pm to 4pm to discuss any local issues, problems or suggestions you may have no matter how big or small. Drop in.

Connexions: careers advice for 16-18yrs. Appointments are available on Thursday afternoons. Please ask at the library.

Young Leaders Volunteering Project for aged 13+ 1pm to 4pm

Rooms for hire:
Community rooms for hire. The centre is run by Kirklees Council and bookings are managed through the Community Buildings Bookings Team. Please contact them for details of prices and more information.

The Children's Centre:
Our partner service, the Children's Centre, delivers a range of services including Health, Education, Family Support and Community Work through which they aim to support families in the area especially those with children under 5 years of age. Please contact them to find out about the wide range of activities and help that they offer.
