A vibrant Victorian park just minutes from Huddersfield town centre.
Opened in 1884, Greenhead Park has been a cherished green space for over 130 years. Loved by all ages, it draws visitors from near and far with its scenic beauty, vibrant events, and welcoming atmosphere.

The park is open every day from 7am. Closing times vary throughout the year:
- January and February: 7am - 6pm
- March and April: 7am - 8pm
- May, June, July and August: 7am - 10pm
- September and October: 7am - 8pm
- November and December: 7am - 6pm

Features and facilities
Greenhead Park's skatepark is a popular spot for young people to sharpen their skills. Open to skateboarders, BMX riders, and rollerbladers, it's free to use and accessible during park opening hours.
Greenhead Park has two bowling greens, regularly used by the Greenhead Park Bowling Club for matches and practice. One green is usually open to the public during the bowling season, and newcomers are warmly encouraged to give the sport a try.
Huddersfield Croquet Club also play on the lower green and welcome new members.
Located near the tennis courts, the 1920s refreshment pavilion has been fully refurbished. It now houses a popular café, public toilets, and a community room available for hire by schools and groups.

Changing places toilet
Greenhead Park offers a fully equipped Changing Places Toilet for visitors who need extra support. The facility includes a ceiling-mounted hoist, changing bench, peninsular toilet, adjustable wash basin, grab rails, privacy screen, and optionally a shower.

Miniature steam railway
Operated by volunteers from the Huddersfield Society of Model Engineers, this charming railway has been delighting visitors since 2000. Live steam locomotives run along a 1/3 mile track, with rides starting and finishing at the station behind the Refreshment Rooms.

Greenhead Park features two exciting play areas for children of all ages:
- Main play area - (near the café and sports courts): Includes a zip wire, play tower, swings, climbing wall, and a fenced area with smaller equipment for younger children.
- Central play area - Offers modern equipment and natural play features in the heart of the park
Both areas have picnic tables, making them perfect for family outings.
Ornamental lake
The largest of Greenhead Park's five lakes has been beautifully reconstructed and is now a popular spot for both visitors and local wildlife. It's a peaceful place to relax, enjoy nature, and take in the scenic views.
Dating back to the 1890s, the beautifully restored timber bandstand with its elegant chinoiserie design is a standout feature of the park and a central stage for musical events and performances.
The Italian Gardens are the part of the park which is the more tranquil, relaxing area - with all the flower beds, focused around the recently refurbished fountain.
Originally built in the late 1920s, the conservatory has been fully reglazed and now connects to a modern two-storey extension. This elegant space houses a stylish café and restaurant, offering a scenic spot to dine and host events within the park.

Home to the Friends of Greenhead Park, the Bowling Club, and the Huddersfield Croquet Club, the pavilion serves as a hub for community activity. Weekly drop-in sessions are held here, and park event information is displayed in the windows.
Opened in 2013, Greenhead Park's Pe´tanque offers a fun and social way to enjoy this classic French game, similar to boules.

- Cost: £18 annual membership
- Who can join: Visitors and beginners are welcome to join in and try for free equipment provided.
Run by Huddersfield Pe´tanque it's a great way to meet people and enjoy the outdoors.
Greenhead Park offers nine hard-surface tennis courts and two Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGAs) all free to use all year round. Whether you're into tennis, football, basketball, or other court sports, there's space for everyone to play and stay active.
