A very warm welcome to the 2013/14 Kirklees Concert Season, which once again fills the beautiful Town Halls of Huddersfield and Dewsbury with a host of marvellous music.
The season stars a number of renowned soloists, all regulars on the international stage. Highlights include Proms favourite Kathryn Stott, German tenor Werner Güra and the thrilling father and son pairing of Howard and Alexander Shelley, in their first ever public performance together. The season also features a number of gifted young musicians who are making waves on the classical scene, including violinist Francesca Dego, conductor Andrew Gourlay
and cellist Leonard Elschenbroich. We are pleased to bring you inspired orchestral playing from Kirklees Concert Season's resident ensemble, the Orchestra of Opera North, alongside top British orchestras: Royal Northern Sinfonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and BBC Philharmonic.
We are proud to be teaming up again this year with the UK's biggest classical radio station, Classic FM. We share with Classic FM a simple vision that classical music is for everyone, and when you look through this programme we hope you'll be as excited as we are about what is on offer. For those who want to experience everything, there is our great value subscription to take advantage
of. For those of you who aren't quite sure where to begin, why not come along to the 'Recommended by Classic FM' concerts, which are a great introduction to some of the most popular works? Almost all the concerts are preceded by a free talk, which provides a friendly and informal opportunity to get closer to the music and to the performers you'll be hearing.
This year we're continuing our popular 'Kids for a Quid' offer where under 16s can enjoy any concert for £1 when accompanied by an adult. Bring along the family and enjoy the concert season together.
