"We were grateful to receive multiple tickets via Kirklees Council's 'Pay It Forward' scheme. The event tickets have made a meaningful difference to the veterans we support and to participants in our Walking and Wellbeing Football programmes. These opportunities offered experiences beyond football- helping participants connect, socialise, and feel a sense of belonging. Many of those involved rarely get the chance to enjoy activities like this, especially together. Thank you for investing in our community and helping us create additional opportunities that truly matter to the people we support."
Kate Macleod, Lead LGBTQ+ Youth Worker, The Brunswick Centre said:
"Thank you again for the opportunity (for our young people to attend Pride Classical at Huddersfield Town Hall last June as part of the Kirklees Pride celebrations). The feedback from our young people who attended was that it was absolutely brilliant, fun and exciting to see a show like this in Huddersfield, for many of our young people an opportunity to attend an event is rare as many face a financial barrier. The young people said the show was fantastic and really showed them that they aren't alone in the queer community and that there are some great opportunities to be had in the arts."
James Creegan, Chief Executive, Kirklees and Calderdale Care Association said:
"Thank you to the 'Pay It Forward Fund' for the generous donation of vouchers towards a Kirklees Town Hall event. These vouchers were given to the category winners of the inaugural Kirklees Care Awards 2024 during an emotional ceremony on 7 November 2024 at Cedar Court Hotel. The deserved winners were thrilled to receive their trophy, a certificate and their voucher as a recognition of the hard work, dedication and the positive impact they have had on the most vulnerable members of our local community."
Sarah Mason-Dixon, Operational Manager - Venues:
"Since launching the Kirklees Town Halls: Pay It Forward Fund in September 2023, we've been proud to offer over 500 local residents a memorable night at our Town Halls-without this, they might not otherwise have had the opportunity to do so."
"The generosity of our audiences has been truly inspiring, with around £8,000 raised so far! These donations are opening doors for people in our community who face financial or social barriers, giving them the chance to experience the magic of live performance and create joyful memories. We remain deeply committed to making our events accessible. Alongside our affordable ticket options and concessions, this initiative is another powerful way to ensure that everyone can enjoy the arts at our Town Halls."
"A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated so far, and to the community groups helping us spread joy to Kirklees residents."
Carmen Taylor from mental health and wellbeing charity Support to Recovery said:
"Tickets from the Pay It Forward Fund go to families we work with through our community anchor work, who are living with hardship or have difficulty accessing family-based activities."
"This fund offers families the opportunity to enjoy live entertainment they otherwise could not afford; spend quality time together; and enjoy the remarkable interiors of our town halls. It is a wonderful gift from Kirklees audience members who are enriching lives by choosing to help others."
