Street naming and numbering

Requesting a new street name for a new development

• Send us your site plans showing the location and layout of all plots and existing streets
• Tell us your Building Regulations Application Number
• Tell us when work is commencing on site
• We will contact you and we will instigate the street naming procedure
• The street naming procedure involves extensive consultations and you need to allow a minimum of three months for it to be completed
• If the site layout changes you must send updated site plans
• At the end of the street naming procedure we will arrange for street nameplates to be erected. We will liaise with you regarding the cost of these and we will send our invoice to you
• We will submit information to Royal Mail and we will liaise with you to confirm the addresses and postcodes of new properties.

Requesting new addresses on an existing street

• Send us your site plans showing the location and layout of all plots
• Tell us your Building Regulations Application Number
• Where possible, and depending on access, new housing is usually numbered into the existing street
• We will submit information to Royal Mail and we will liaise with you to confirm the addresses and postcodes of new properties.

Requesting new addresses for flats

• Send us your site plan showing the location of the development
• Tell us your Building Regulations Application Number
• Send floor plans showing the plot number of each flat
• Tell us your preferred name for the building, if you have one
• We will discuss the numbering sequence of the flats with you. We will ask you what the arrangement is for delivery of mail (for example, each flat to have its own letterbox; pigeonholes in a communal area; key pad on the main door).
