Dewsbury General Post Office

The original General Post Office in Dewsbury was a large stone building opposite Dewsbury Town Hall which closed in the mid 1980s. The replacement Post Office is situated lower down the road but still opposite the Town Hall.

The original brass memorial plaque was situated on the wall inside the old General Post Office, next to the letterboxes, however entry to this building is not possible and it is thought that the memorial may still be inside.

It has been confirmed that this memorial plaque is not situated in the new General Post Office, however research has revealed the names of the Dewsbury Post Office officials who sacrificed their lives in the Great War of 1914-1919.
