The period commemorated is 1914-1918.
The unveiling of the monument took place on Saturday 2nd April 1921 by General Sir Ian Hamilton.
There is a copy of the original programme detailing the events at the unveiling ceremony in Tolson Museum, Wakefield Road, Dalton, Huddersfield in the Ephemere Collection.
The inscription on the front facing side reads:
