Air Quality Management Areas
Kirklees Council revoked three AQMAs and amended three in 2025, thanks to several years of improvement in air quality across the borough.
We are now consulting on the proposed revocation of AQMA 8 (Outlane), following several years of continued compliance with the air quality objectives.

We have declared seven air quality management areas :
Ainley Top, Huddersfield for elevated levels of Nitrogen Dioxide
In 2025, we amended AQMA 3. This is because the air quality in part of the previously declared AQMA has improved over the last few years.
Eastborough, Dewsbury for elevated levels of Nitrogen Dioxide
Edgerton, Huddersfield for elevated levels of Nitrogen Dioxide
Liversedge for elevated levels of Nitrogen Dioxide
In 2025, we amended AQMA 7. This is because the air quality in part of the previously declared AQMA has improved over the last few years.

Huddersfield Town Centre for elevated levels of Nitrogen Dioxide
Thornton Lodge for elevated levels of Nitrogen Dioxide
In 2025, we amended AQMA 10. This is because the air quality in part of the previously declared AQMA has improved over the last few years.
Historic Air Quality Management Areas
Three Air Quality Management Areas were revoked in 2025. This is because the air quality in these areas has improved in the last few years.
