Duty to consult on street tree removal

Kirklees Council, as the local highway authority, has a duty to consult on proposals for the removal of street trees in certain circumstances.

This process helps us to:

• Allow residents to express their opinions about the proposed removal of street trees in their area.
• Protect street trees that do not already have preservation orders.
• Ensure a transparent decision-making process that takes into account the views of local residents before any street tree is felled.
