The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) replaced the Household Support Fund on 1 April 2026 and is funded by the UK Government.

The council is providing vital financial support to residents through crisis payments for essential items like food and fuel, and through housing payments designed to help households facing shortfalls in their rent and prevent homelessness.

We also provide funding to voluntary and community organisations, including advice services and community groups, to offer wider support to households and individuals.

What the fund can help with

The CRF can support residents with:

  • Food and fuel costs
  • Essential household appliances and furniture
  • Clothing, including essential items, warm winter clothing and shoes
  • Essential transport related costs
  • Other essential living costs

Eligibility

Awards can only be made where a household has experienced an unexpected financial emergency. Crisis Payments are intended for occasional or short-term needs and cannot replace a regular income.

To be eligible for support you must:

  • Be resident in Kirklees
  • Have no available means to meet your needs
  • Be on a low income or in receipt of the following:
    • Universal Credit
    • Housing Benefit
    • Income Support
    • Job Seekers Allowance
    • Employment and Support Allowance
    • Guaranteed Pension Credit
    • Council Tax Support
    • Child Tax Credit
    • Working Tax Credit
