Transpennine Route Upgrade
The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a multi-billion-pound programme of railway improvements being carried out by Network Rail.

The project aims to connect all routes between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds, and York, bringing better journey times to all passengers.
The upgrade will promise more frequent, more reliable, faster, and greener trains. However, due to the size of the project it does mean that there will be some disruption until the work is complete.

Diversion and traffic management
To ensure improvements are completed safely and efficiently, some diversion routes and traffic management will be in place. These may change as work progresses, but all diversion routes are clearly sign posted. For the latest updates and to plan your journey use the national roadworks map, just search the affected roads to see planned works up to 12 months in advance.
