Book of condolence for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
1926-2022

On behalf of Kirklees Council and the citizens of Kirklees I wish to express our utmost sadness on hearing the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Union flags on Council buildings will be flown at half-mast during the period of mourning. Books of condolence have been opened at all four Kirklees Town Halls in Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Batley and Cleckheaton, and will be open from 9am until 5pm for the duration of the period of mourning.

It is likely over the coming days that planned events will either be cancelled or will commence with a period of silence, being respectful of the sad loss to the nation. We join together with the nation to express our sorrow at the loss of our Monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Councillor Masood Ahmed
Mayor of Kirklees

I'm deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

For most of us, she's the only monarch we've ever known, and leaves such an outstanding legacy.

I know residents from communities across Kirklees will want to express, and share, their thoughts at this sad moment for our country.

Councillor Shabir Pandor
Leader of Kirklees Council

On behalf of everyone at Kirklees Council I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the Royal Family at this deeply upsetting time.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has devoted the majority of her life to our country through her royal duties and I'd like to thank her on behalf of Kirklees for everything she has done.

Jacqui Gedman
Chief Executive of Kirklees Council
