About the site

Victoria Avenue Playground is located in the Batley East ward of Kirklees. A design for the redevelopment of the play area on site has been created in conjunction with your Local Ward Councillors after highlighting it as the first site for redevelopment in the Ward as part of the Playable Spaces Programme.

Information about the new design

The new design aims to make the play provision more appealing and accessible to all age groups by using a variety of through-age play equipment types and features.

The proposed plan for the site includes:

  • The addition of play tree features.
  • Resurfacing of the access path to the play site.
  • The addition of new picnic benches surrounding the play area.
  • The refurbishment of the existing multi-play unit.
  • The refurbishment of the existing benches within the play area.
  • The refurbishment of the existing swing set.
  • Improved safety surfacing installation.
  • The addition of a new Toddler Climber Unit.
  • The refurbishment and relocation of the existing fly wheel play equipment.
  • The extension of play to other areas across the site.
  • The addition of a new climb unit.
  • The addition of a new Supernova play feature.
  • The addition of a new Pendulum Swing.

Next Steps

Feedback from the consultation has been reviewed by the project team and discussed with your local councillors.

No changes to the design have been made as a result of consultation; the design was well received by those that took part in the survey.

The project team will now take steps to engage with a contractor to complete the works on site. Information on when works on site will start will be shared here when available.
