Sunnymead Recreation Ground
About the site
Sunnymead Recreation Ground is a community park located in the Denby Dale ward. Kirklees Council has Section 106 funding from a local development to invest into the park.
The recreation ground has a recently (2017) improved play site, and a football pitch. The remainder of the site is open space, mainly mown grass and a mix of informal/formal footpaths from multiple entrances around the site.
Explanation and information about the new design
Together with your Local Ward Councillors, several initial proposals for what the funding could be put towards have been created. This includes proposals to improve the following:
- The play area
- Site drainage
- Seating/social space provision
- Public art/Creative space provision
- Increasing Biodiversity
We'd like to get some initial feedback on the proposals, and understand what park users and the local community might like to see on site in the future.
Get involved
The initial consultation on Sunnymead Recreation Ground closed on the 4th September 2023, and the Project team are now analysing the results.
We'll use your feedback to create a suitable design, which we'll share with you and give you another opportunity to comment.
