About the site

Staincliffe Park is on Dewsbury Gate Road just off the main Halifax Road within the Kirklees ward of Batley West.

The play area is located towards the far end of the park and was installed back in 2010.

Through discussions with your local ward Councillors this play area has been selected for refurbishment.

Project overview

The proposal for Staincliffe Park is a refurbishment project designed to provide new safety surface to all existing equipment and includes the repair of a number of play items. Due to limited budgets and rising costs, we're unable to purchase and install new equipment, but this design sustainably extends the life span of the equipment and creates a fully accessible space by replacing the bark with grass mat safety surfacing.

Explanation and information about the new design

The design includes the following:

  • Swing set (1): new swing seats and swing frame refurbished & painted
  • Junior climbing frame (2): new platforms and replacement net
  • Existing benches (7) will be refurbished

Features to remain include:

  • Roundabout (3) with new rubber safety surfacing
  • Single point swing (4) with new grass mat safety surfacing
  • Teen climbing frame (5) with new grass mat safety surfacing
  • Zip wire (6) with new grass mat safety surfacing

Existing wooden posts will be removed, surfacing repaired and levels treated accordingly.
