Southway Island and Foxroyd Drive play areas
About the site
The Southway Island and Foxroyd Drive play areas are located within the town of Mirfield, in the Mirfield Ward of Kirklees. Each site sits within existing open greenspace and serves the surrounding residential communities.
Outdoor play supports physical, social and cognitive development and benefits people of all ages. The aim of this project is to enhance and expand the play facilities, creating inclusive spaces that can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages and abilities.
Project overview
Kirklees Council has secured funding through Section 106 contributions and the Playable Spaces Programme. Working closely with local ward councillors, the following improvements are proposed:
- New multi-deck tower unit
- Dee multi-play unit
- Basketball and goal area
- Inclusive scramble and slide multi-play unit
