A master plan for Lepton Recreation Ground has been created to bring together various ideas brought forward by local community groups.

Lepton Recreation Ground is located off Highgate Lane, Lepton, To the north (behind) of Lepton Methodist Church and Lepton Doctors Surgery.
The overall design aims to create a more accessible park, with attractive garden areas and growing areas that will enable greater use of the park and bring the community together. At present we have only secured funding for the play area, other projects that are agreed through this consultation will only be progressed when funding becomes available.

The majority of people were in favour of the proposals of the master plan, and there was a lot of support for investment into this well-loved community asset should additional funding become available.

Local Councillors have met with Kirklees Council's Landscape Architects to develop a design for Playground improvements with funding from the Kirklees' Playable Spaces strategy. This is now available for public viewing below:

The new design includes:
- Installation of a new junior climbing unit with slide, fireman's pole, climbing wall and rope bridge
- Installation of a new rubber surfacing to the existing roundabout
- Retain existing toddler climbing unit with two new panels
- Installation of a new cantilever basket swing with grass matting safety surfacing underneath
- Installation of a new teen shelter
- Installation of new jumping pods for balancing or sitting
- Installation of new recycled plastic picnic benches with extended tabletop to accommodate wheelchair users
- Installation of new triple somersault bars
- Installation of a raised performance platform
- Installation of two seat swing and the refurbishment of the existing swings
- Refurbish and relocate existing benches
- Resurfacing existing pathways
