About the site

Broadlands Recreation Ground is located in the Holme Valley North Ward. In recent years it has undergone improvement works through investment into the onsite ball court funded by Section 106 contributions from local housing developments.

Following initial redevelopment works on site, additional funding is now available for our second phase of improvements to the children's play area and green space at Broadlands Recreation Ground in Meltham.

Project Overview

A phase 2 design was created following the feedback given in the initial consultation, and in conjunction with local councillors. The new design proposed to:

  • Renovation of the play area to open it up to the wider greenspace and incorporate a wider range of equipment for all ages and abilities
  • Resurfacing of the main pathways through the site
  • Additional tree planting to add to the visual interest and value of the site for wildlife
  • Changes to the Barratts Homes entrance to the site to improve accessibility
  • Minor landscaping around the skate park to address erosion
  • New fitness station/exercise equipment near to the ball court to provide additional activities in this part of the site
  • Small-scale local landscaping of uneven areas within the rugby pitch
