About the site
Ashcroft Close is located in the Batley West ward of Kirklees. It is a small, local park situated in Staincliffe, off Thorncliffe Road.
This site was highlighted as the first play site within the Batley West ward by local councillors to be to be redeveloped within the Playable Spaces programme and works have now completed on the refurbished play area!

Project overview
Together with Ward Councillors we created a new design for the Play Area. The design was created to make the play provision more appealing and accessible to all age groups by using a variety of play equipment types and natural play features.
The refurbished play area now includes:
- New climbing unit
- Toddler slide
- Burma bridge
- Weaving posts
- Boulders and stepping stones
- Picnic bench
- New litter bin
The play value score of this site increased by 56% upon completion of the redevelopment!
