How we calculate your Council Tax bill
This is how we calculate your 2023 to 2024 Council Tax bill
We've based the figures below on a Band D property in Kirklees that has no parish precept to pay.
First let's look at the 2022 to 2023 figures
|2022/23 Average basic Council Tax rate||+ 2023/23 Adult Social Care contribution||= Total Average Council Tax for 2023/23|
We can now use these figures to work out the Council Tax increase for 2023 to 2024.
1. General increase for 2023 to 2024
|Council Tax for 2022/23||x General increase for 2023/24||= Council Tax general increase for 2023/24|
2. Basic amount for 2023 to 2024
|Council Tax for 2022/23||+ Council Tax general increase for 2023/24||- Adult Social Care contribution for 2022/23||= 2023/24 basic Council Tax|
3. Adult Social Care (ASC)
|Council Tax for 2022/23||x increase for 2023/24||= Amount of increase for 2023/24||+ Adult Social Care contribution for 2022/23||= Adult Social Care contribution for 2023/24|
Contributions started in 2016/17 and increased year on year (except for 2019/20).
There is a requirement to have a separate line on the bill to show the amount of Council Tax which is dedicated to the provision of Adult Social Care services.
There will be rounding involved in some figures to 0.01p
4. Final bill for 2023 to 2024
|2023/24 basic Council Tax rate||+ Adult Social Care contribution for 2023/24||+ West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority contribution||+ West Yorkshire Police Authority contribution||= 2023/24 Council Tax bill|
