Our Local Welfare Provision (LWP) scheme helps vulnerable people in short-term crisis with food and essential items. Entitlement for help is based on a person or family's circumstances at the time and is at our discretion.
Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP)
You may be eligible for a Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP). They give short-term help with rent for people experiencing severe financial hardship.
We can help you with:
- food parcels
- gas and electricity vouchers for pre-paid meters
- welfare benefits advice
- debt advice
- budgeting advice
- employment advice
- housing advice
- school uniform support (free recycled school uniforms are also available from the Uniform Exchange
We can advise you about:
- Council Tax Reduction
- applying for free school meals and school transport
- local and national COVID-19 assistance schemes
