Kirklees Associates List

Kirklees Council's Learning Services have developed an Associate List which acts as the lead body in managing the work of Kirklees Council, schools and other Local Authority settings.

The list is used, in the first instance, to match individuals or groups to identify priorities and gaps in subject and specialist areas. Contractual offers to individuals or groups are dependent upon annual needs assessments, identified priorities, and gaps in subject or specialist areas.

How to apply

Kirklees Council's Learning Services is seeking to complement the Associates List with a wider pool of resources and specialist areas. Kirklees Council will quality assure all applications prior to inclusion of associates on the Kirklees Associate List.

All interested parties are required to complete the Application process as described below.

Kirklees Council anticipates interested parties might include individuals (e.g. education consultants, Headteachers, part time teaching or support staff with spare capacity), and other non-Kirklees schools or confederations or other private companies (hereafter referred to as organisations). The application process is designed to accomodate both individuals and organisations.

Application Process

This compromises of:

  1. Application form - please complete all sections, including your employment/education history in full (from your 16th birthday) - a CV is not an acceptable alternative. References - referees must be able to comment on your experience of supporting schools and setting to improve provision and outcomes for learners.
  2. Business questionnaire (if applicable)
  3. Relevant information form
  4. Availability form
  5. Pre-inclusion declaration form
  6. Safeguarding training - please complete under free training, the resulting certificate can be emailed or printed out on completion. To be renewed every three years.
  7. Prevent training - please complete under free training, the resulting certificate can be emailed or printed out on completion. To be renewed every three years.
  8. DBS - an enhanced DBS check is required for inclusion on the Associate list - new DBS application will be processed at KSS at a cost of £55.00. This certificate must be registered with the DBS Update Service (£13).

Minimum requirements for all roles

KSS wants to hear from individuals who would like to work on a supply basis in Kirklees schools who:

  • Have required status, experience or qualifications for the post you are applying for
  • Be available to provide cover for more than one school/setting
  • All posts are subject to a valid DBS Check

All Supply Teachers are required to complete the e-learning training detailed below and to produce the certificate at interview.

We all have a responsibility to follow Government Guidance in respect of Safeguarding issues for Schools and Learning.

This has given rise to the stipulation that all supply staff must complete the 'Safeguarding in Education' e-learning course, which must be completed before interview and must be updated every 3 years.

Prevent Duty - Prevent E-learning Course

Under Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 there is a requirement for individuals in education to be aware of the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. The Home Office have produced a new online e-learning Prevent resource aimed at individuals with responsibilities under the Prevent Duty. The e-learning is designed to help raise awareness of radicalisation; will help individuals to identify the signs that someone may be at risk of radicalisation and where to go to for support.

Therefore, in line with requirements by the DFE, Ofsted and Kirklees Council Policy, we require supply staff to complete the Prevent E-Learning course.

Business support officers

Business support officers are required to provide administrative support to the school under the direction of the headteacher and/or administrative officer. Key responsibility areas are:

  • Finance
  • Administration
  • General duties which may be required to fulfil role

Nursery officers

Supply nursery officers for work in schools, children's centres and nursery schools require you to be qualified to NNEB or hold other relevant childcare qualifications or training to level 3. Educational teaching assistants

Educational teaching assistants should be able to work as part of a team to support the learning and welfare of pupils in school. Particular emphasis will be on working with the individual pupils and small groups. Experience of working with children and young people in a school environment and knowledge of the national curriculum are essential.
