This was the consultation draft version of the Huddersfield Town Centre Blueprint SPD. The adopted version can be found at: Adopted Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD)

The council launched the Huddersfield Blueprint in June 2019 and consulted on this document from June - October 2019. We considered all the comments received and Cabinet approved the Huddersfield Blueprint at Cabinet on 25th February 2020. Cabinet also agreed to start the statutory planning process to convert the Huddersfield Blueprint to a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). This process requires an additional four weeks of consultation.

The benefit of converting the Blueprint to an SPD is that its weight as a planning tool will add greater support to the delivery of Huddersfield Town Centre Regeneration Programme including potential funding applications for the delivery of key sites and transport schemes identified in the Blueprint.

The Huddersfield Town Centre Blueprint SPD sets out the vision and ambitions for the future of Huddersfield Town Centre for the period up to 2031. The SPD sets a framework to capitalise and build on the unique aspects and character of Huddersfield to promote its regeneration and bring forward new uses to support the future of the town centre. The SPD will help to deliver certainty through a clear and transparent framework which seeks to co-ordinate future development within the Town Centre based on agreed objectives and priorities with developers, investors and other interested stakeholders.

Once adopted, the SPD will form part of the council's planning guidance and will be an important consideration when determining planning applications for Huddersfield Town Centre.

The council has determined that the Huddersfield Town Centre Blueprint SPD is not likely to have significant environmental effects and accordingly a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is not required for the SPD. The reasons for this decision are set out in the SEA Determination Statement and the SEA Screening Statement.
