Kirklees Cares

We know it's been a tough year and that many people have suffered as a result of the pandemic but we want to tell you that Kirklees Cares.

Find out what support is available and how we can help you.

Protecting your family and community
Protecting the NHS

Your NHS is here to help you and you can help them by following the COVID-19 guidance. The basics remain key - keeping a social distance; wearing a face covering and washing your hands - as well as isolating if you have symptoms and getting tested, or are a close contact. By following these steps you are helping to protect the NHS as well your family, friends and community.

Show the NHS your support and that Kirklees Cares.

Further information

  • Read protecting your family and community for information on how you can help show the NHS your support and that Kirklees Cares.

Protecting the elderly and vulnerable
Protecting the NHS

We've worked hard to protect our elderly and most vulnerable residents so they are safe, well and able to live independently in their own homes during the pandemic. Support is available if you need a helping hand.

Further information

  • Read our COVID-19 guidance for vulnerable people if you are clinically vulnerable and need to shield.

  • Visit COVID-19 Community Response to find out what support is available for those who are most vulnerable and in need of support.

Financial support
Protecting the NHS

Are you worrying about paying utility bills, council tax, repaying credit cards, loans or mortgages due to the impact of coronavirus?

Don't ignore it, free advice is available - coronavirus has affected the entire nation and many of us need support now, even if we didn't before. Kirklees Cares, and we are here to help and support you.

Further information

  • Visit financial support if you are looking for financial help due to the impact of COVID-19.

  • Visit help for businesses and self-employed if you are a business that requires information on what help is available.

Supporting your mental health
Protecting the NHS

This year we've not been able to spend as much time with family and friends as we normally would, and our plans have changed or been put on hold.

Staying connected over the phone, online and making video calls continues to help our mental wellbeing and make us feel less isolated and lonely. We understand that not everyone has someone they can call, but Kirklees Cares for everyone and support is available.

Further information

  • Calderdale and Kirklees Age UK offer a befriending service over the phone for elderly people who would like a chat.

  • Visit the Wellness Service if you are looking for mental health support.

This won't be forever
Protecting the NHS

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, we have all had to make sacrifices to our everyday lives to protect each other and prevent the spread of the virus.

We know how difficult this is for everyone, but just remember that it won't be this way forever. If we all play our part now, the freedoms we all miss will be back soon.

Further information

  • In the meantime, visit COVID-19 Community Response if you or someone you know requires support during these difficult times.
